Carrot Muffins - taste of Autumn
Deliciously light, moist and perfect on its own. I have tried many, MANY carrot cake/muffin recipes and nothing quite compares to this. It literally tastes like Autumn. I live in New Zealand so no we not on that pumpkin buzz cause I’m telling you right now sis, these carrot muffins will not last more than a coupley days!
Easy Steamed Bread
Steamed bread is unique, delicious and much easier than the usual bread in my opinion. These are light, fluffy and the perfect thing to encase any filling, be it sweet or savoury. Make pork and chive pleated baos or the infamous gua bao and even plain steamed bread known as mantou.
Chewy Salted Matcha Rye Cookies
The absolute most delicious, chewy and complex cookies I have ever made. So easy and quick, you can keep these babies in the freezer for a later date or eat them all straight away. This makes a damn good cookie dough in general as well.

Homemade Ramen Noodles
It’s actually so simple to make your own ramen noodles! This is based off a Japanese style of ramen and utilises a bit of science to change the pH of your dough to create the beautiful curves, stretch and spring that every ramen needs. This one adds Matcha Green tea!

I emailed, describing who I am etc and was lucky enough to be chosen to experience The Roots degustation by three hatted chef Giulio Sturla, known for his Christchurch restaurant, Roots. We ended the night with honeycomb and I drew a picture depicting how the meals made me feel..

Purple Sweet Potato/ Kumara Tart
A healthier starchy tart using Purple Kumara or Yam better known as Ube. There are no colour additives, only the natural bright purple colour this vegetable gives off. Burnt butter and condensed milk provide a creamy and extremely delicious tart. Not to forget this homemade flaky pastry is absolutely divine with it.
Chinese Steamed Cake (Mah Lai Gohw 马来糕) 7 September 2018
Growing up Mah Lai Goh / Gao was an absolute necessity! I tried Guaishushu’s yeasted version and left it overnight. It has a beautiful flavour and I got some tiger stripes as well. There are a few things I would adjust though.
