Te Whangai, a not for profit internship aiming to create a better mental space for a better workspace. An initiative that will require plenty of iterations.
This was the first iteration of their web dashboard and I was lead designer and worked alone. Feedback and support came from fellow developers and Te Whangai, it was a great experience which I enjoyed and was truly challenged to ask myself how to report on mental well being.
To understand my project with Te Whangai it was necessary to find key points that I believe this company reflects.
From interviews, personas were created to give a better picture of who our users are
A logo option created for use on their app or web dashboard
After reading the brief for the project, I created names for each of the reports and decided the way it would be displayed. I wanted something extremely simple and minimal for the benefit of managers and to make it intuitive. I named the side menus and provided reflective ideas for them after.
A video showing the prototype created. A large part of my time was spent researching and trying out apps initially but being tasked with the web design dashboard on my own was a challenge and great opportunity. I went through many iterations and found inspiration from Xero and Shopify, also taking the same colouration, font and elements of the app itself to keep a visual flow.
I found the visual construct to making an actually useful visual report my hardest challenge. After creating the names for the reports and deciding on a simple drop down, a calendar selection (a comparative option would be ideal)
To further iterate this design, I would work with a data analyst and mental health professional to work on creating useful reporting for them and the future users of this dashboard to benefit the employees/ users.
